Winks by Georgie Lashes

So I LOVE wearing lashes.  They’re just really the special finishing touch on well done makeup to me.  I recommend that our all all our clients wear falsies on their special occasions, especially on their wedding day when you’re inevitably upping the ante on drama just by virtue of wearing a white gown. You just look prettier.  That’s not to say that there isn’t something that goes into choosing the right lash for everyone, it’s important that each lady’s style is found, be it subtle or all-out-glam. But I like to discourage the idea that false lashes are only for glamour girls alone, a la K. Kardashian, Ru Paul, and the myriad of gypsy brides on TLC.  I think that at this point most are on board about lashes, but this brings us to something VERY exciting. LUXE lashes for the everyday girl.

When it comes to lashes it dosent get better than Winks by Georgie lashes.  They’re handmade, so light and comfortable, easy to apply, and every style in the line is a great choice (read: no crystal dusted feather lashes). No super dramatic options to be confused by.  This may mean that I’ll start wearing lashes to Starbucks. This is trouble.

We are super excited to have a Q & A with Winks & Georgie Beauty founder, Megan Allen to answer all our lashie questions!

What made you decide to create Winks?

My sister and I love wearing false lashes, but we didn’t love false lash products on the market (because many false lashes are heavy and stiff, and the adhesives have formalin, aka formaldehyde, in them). So we decided to create our own “eco-luxe” line of lashes with classic, naturalistic styles and the first gentle, safe lash adhesive… all packaged in eco-chic, refillable compacts.

What makes Winks so much nicer than other lashes, so much lighter and more comfortable?

Winks lashes are premium quality and most of our styles are human hair, which makes them naturalistic looking, lightweight, and easy to apply. We also develop our styles with a group of women in NY & LA who vote on what they like, don’t like, what’s comfortable and what looks fabulous! So we develop styles that ladies like you want to wear!

I’ve never been one to wear lashes more then once, my lashes end up out the car window at the end of the night. How do we act like ladies and make our Winks nice for multiple uses?

Haha, well a premium-quality pair of lashes is definitely re-wearable. Make sure you apply lashes last after eye makeup and mascara (we like to say that Winks are the icing on the cake!). Then be sure to place Winks back in your compact after wearing them to maintain the shape and longevity of the lashes. We want you to get as use out of one pair of Winks as possible, which is why we designed the first and only lash compact! If you take care of your Winks, you can re-wear them 4 or 5 times.

Whats the most popular style? Is that your personal favorite?

The most popular style (right now) is Style No. 2 “L’Avant-Gardiste” which is fuller on the ends, creating a subtle and beautiful cat-eye shape. My personal favorite this week is Style No. 8 “Bon Ton” but last week it was Style No. 5 “Midnight Muse.”

Do you have advice for how we should go about picking a style?

First, decide what look you’re hoping to achieve. For example, Style No. 1 provides beautiful length and definition while Style No. 4 provides naturalistic volume. Do you like more minimalistic makeup (Style No. 8) or are you a glamour girl going for a smokey eye (Style No. 5)? If you have smaller eyes, we recommend going for smaller style like our half lashes or a style that is easy to cut like Style No. 2.

Tell me about this “eco-luxury” that Georgie Beauty is founded on?

Georgie Beauty reinvents classic beauty for a new generation. To us, a new generation means a new concept: eco-luxury, which we define as respect for animals, the environment, and the consumer’s skin while never compromising beautiful design and the luxury experience. We look to past beauty icons, like Monroe, Bardot, and Hepburn, for inspiration and reinvent iconic beauty products for a new generation. We also incorporate environmentally-conscious materials and practices, and we promote reusability. And we never test on Peter Rabbit or Stuart Little!

Is Georgie going to stick to lashes or do you have your eyes set on expanding the line? Whats next?

We’ve got several new products in the works! Right now, we’re focusing on eyes, but we see endless opportunities to reinvent amazing beauty products and to clean up the cosmetics industry.
